This storyline is turning out great. Readers that have followed the story to date know where Chance ends up, but you are still able to keep us enthralled by leaving us guessing.

…some how I don’t think Chance was fighting for his own life, but it could just be me…
Simple. He strikes from the side, instead of head on, as well not letting the antagonist get up to give him the best chance of winning the fight (no pun intended). Besides, if your opponent starts laughing and says “I found you” after you landed one in the jaw, wouldn’t you be a little freaked out?
I was implying that he was fighting for Scout’s life as opposed to his own. I guess I should have made that a little clearer
